Where Girls Grow StrongGirl Scout Service Unit 762 serves approximately 450 girls living in Eastlake, Kirtland, Willoughby, Willoughby Hills and Willowick. Our 41 troops are part of Girl Scouts of Northeast Ohio Council, which serves approximately 40,000 girls and 15,000 adult members in 18 counties Recipient of GSNEO President's Award for 2008 2009 2010 2011 2012 2013 The President's Award recognizes the efforts of a service unit, geographic area, or program delivery team in achieving Girl Scouts of North East Ohio's goals during the membership year. What have we done to merit the award? Membership goals are achieved All troops are registered All troops turn in their financial reports Monthly leader meetings with comprehensive meeting agendas Healthy participation in Council's Fall Product and Cookie Sales programs We provide service activities such as Operation Christmas Child (sends basic items and gifts around the world to children in need), Convoy of Hope collections (local charity that provides essentials for residents of Lake County), homeless shelter and food shelter collections, and we volunteer for Eastlake, Willowick, Kirtland, Willoughby, and Willoughby Hills community events We provide social and skill-building activities such as the Halloween party and ghost tour, mother-daughter bingo, father-daughter bowling, World Thinking Day celebration, talent show, Easter egg hunt, archery event, bridging ceremony, badge workshops, and Camporee.
Girl Scouts are placed in troops based on their age levels. Kindergarten and First graders are Daisy scouts, second and third graders are Brownie Scouts, fourth and fifth graders are Junior Girl Scouts, sixth, seventh, and eighth graders are Cadette Girl Scouts, ninth and tenth graders are Senior Girl Scouts, and eleventh and twelfth graders are Ambassadors. Each level of girl scouting uses age-appropriate activities to help girls learn new skills, make new friends, earn awards (petals, try-its, badges, journeys, etc), and learn to live by all aspects of the girl scout law. |
